Bus service 275

Tuesday, 15th Jun 2021/in News/by Adam Bernstein

Regrettably Oxfordshire County Council has had to withdraw funding for the Saturday service for the 275 bus with immediate effect following a consultation. The move comes as Covid has dented the demand for travel .

The change isn’t ideal but it preserves the route for users Monday to Friday.

Impersonation of ARPC email addresses

Monday, 14th Jun 2021/in News/by Adam Bernstein

It appears that a malevolent actor has found a way to impersonate email addresses from the parish council. While we are taking advice on what, if anything, we can do about it, the council is urging residents to act with caution if they receive an email, especially if it seeks financial information or private data.

Financial support available for residents

Wednesday, 26th May 2021/in News/by Adam Bernstein

The last year has been tough for many residents due to the pandemic. Households have been hit financially by redundancies and furlough and have found themselves with a day to day struggle to afford food and manage the costs of fuel bills.

Throughout the year South Oxfordshire has been providing supporting via government funding to those who have been hit the hardest, and this support is still available.

If any resident is struggling financially the council is urging them to get in touch, and to do so before they reach crisis point. The Community Hub team are working alongside Citizens advice to offer help in the form of advice, supermarket and fuel vouchers or through the direct payment of energy or water bills.

The support is there for all households: residents needing help do not have to be in receipt of any government benefits and can be given financial support through this funding more than once.

If anyone does need help they can call the South Oxfordshire Community Hub on 01235 422600 or email

They can also contact Citizens Advice – 0808 278 7907.

The deadline for accessing financial support from the Covid Support Grant is Friday 18 June.

Changes to parking from 1 June

Thursday, 20th May 2021/in News/by Adam Bernstein

Motorists in South Oxfordshire are advised that there will be a number of changes to parking arrangements across the district from next month.

Following a public consultation, South Oxfordshire District Council has amended the district’s parking policy, including changes to charging periods to ensure towns are treated equally, and measures designed to encourage the use of electric vehicles in order help tackle the climate emergency by reducing emissions.

From 1 June, the following changes will apply in district council car parks in South Oxfordshire*:

  • All car parks will have the same charging periods – from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
  • Motorists will be able to park for free for up to an hour during the day in all town centre car parks.
  • Half priced parking permits will now only be available for motorists using electric vehicles.
  • There will be new waiting limits in Chinnor’s High Street car park.
  • Once electric charging bays are introduced, the council will carry out enforcement to ensure they are being used to charge vehicles and not for parking.

*except for Goldsmith’s Lane car park in Wallingford.

Note: Some edge of town car parks do not offer a free hour – please check the tariff board or southoxon.gov.uk/parking for details.

For more information visit southoxon.gov.uk/parkingpolicy.
