FTTP latest
FTTP is in progress and slowly, but surely, coming.
Some may have seen engineering crews in the area, others will have seen new black boxes and loops of cable tied high on telegraph poles. The observant may have seen yellow marks sprayed in places on the road.
But progress aside, a number have said that they’ve not received vouchers to validate.
To reassure, this is not an issue. Why? FTTP is coming regardless but also, Openreach can only claim 100 percent of the install cost. The extra 30 percent of project cost that I had to find through ‘extra’ pledges was to provide a ‘subs bench’ for those that didn’t qualify for a voucher or who, for example, had left the parish.
So, if you’ve not had a voucher, don’t worry – you’ll still be able to take advantage of FTTP when it arrives, hopefully by September.
In the meantime, don’t forget to start looking around for the best deal for your circumstances, noting any contractual tie-in’s that you may be obliged to observe. Neither I nor the parish council can make recommendations, at least not officially.
