Local walking group autumn walk
Local walking group autumn walk, Sunday 4 October meeting at Aston Rowant Church and leaving at 10.00 am
Some of you will know that Peter Hetherington has led a New Year Walk for as long as he can remember – probably 40 years. But the last two have been cancelled because of snow and ice. So, the decision has been taken this year to do an autumn 6 mile circular walk instead.
The walk is organised as a joint venture between Aston Rowant Parish Council and Thame and Wheatley Ramblers. It is open to anyone who can walk 6 miles at a leisurely pace not just for Ramblers members or parishioners. Please bring your ICE contact details with you.
Park on the left side of the road just past St Peter and St Paul’s Church in the Centre of the village. This road leads to Aston Rowant Green. Meet in the layby by the church, post code OX49 5SW. OS Explorer Map 171 Grid Reference SU727 990 What3Words – drifting.truffles.unroll
This walk is the shorter version of the Aston Rowant Discovery Trail, which is open to view on the internet – The Ridgeway, Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve, Beacon Hill, National Trust Aston Rowant Woods and Juniper Bank.
There is one hill, no stiles, and the paths are well defined. Some good views and the beech leaves with be turning. Please bring a snack and water. There is no need to book but don’t be late!
