Need propane gas?
/in News/by Adam BernsteinThe parish has two propane gas bottles that it needs to dispose of and is inviting parishioners to make an offer for them as a pair or singly!
Bottle 1 has a tare (empty) weight of 17.4kg. On scales it weighs 35.4kg so that leaves around 18kg of gas inside.
Bottle 2’s tare weight is 18kg. On scales it weighs 35.6kg so there’s around 17.6kg of gas left in that one.
As a guide, the parish paid £62 each in 2022.
If you’re interested and want to make a sensible offer that helps you with a deal and the parish recoup money on the gas …then email .

New play area open
/in News/by Adam BernsteinWe’re pleased to confirm that the Kingston Blount play area was opened on Friday 20th July following two weeks of refurbishment works.
The initial feedback from families who have used the new and improved playground has been incredibly positive and we hope that the facility continues to service and delight local children for years to come.
We are grateful to everyone that has helped us to deliver this phase of the project and we’d like to give particular thanks to Peter Tinson, Cllr. Helen Birks and our chosen supplier – Discovery Timber Play – for making this a reality.
We are currently working to finalising some small finishing touches and we also hope to provide an update on the delivery of the zip wire and picnic bench seating soon.
Thank you to you all for your support and your patience during this process.
Kingston Blount Play area Fundraising Committee.

Litter Bug Detectives activity trails
/in News/by Adam BernsteinFrom Friday 19 July to Sunday 11 August South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse district councils are once again running FREE Litter Bug Detectives activity trails for children across the districts.
Those taking part have a chance to win £20 vouchers for themselves and a rainbow-coloured bench – made from recycled plastic – for their school.
The trails average between 1-2km on marked routes around six local parks and recreation grounds across South Oxfordshire and the Vale. There are 10 stops on each route with questions on waste and recycling. The answers to the questions give letter clues to make up a two-word answer at the end.
The activity is aimed at primary school children (under-12s) to promote recycling and reuse messages and explain the damage litter does to our environment.
Each child, who sends in the correct answer, can request a personalised Litter Bug Detectives certificate. They are also entered into a prize draw – one draw for each council – for £20 vouchers for themselves and a bench for their school.
How to take part
- Go to our Litterbug Detectives nature trail webpageand download the trail map of the area you wish to visit. The map will show a trail of 10 stops.
- At each stop there will be a question on the theme of waste and recycling. The answers will each provide a letter to make two words.
- Email the two-word answer and your name and address and school to before midnight on 30 August and the team will send you a Litter Bug Detective Certificate and enter you for the prize draw. Terms and conditions are on our web page above.
