After a disappointing weekend last week the club has another busy weekend with important games on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday the first team host Slough, starting at 11.30, and the third team has another local derby – it is hosting Stokenchurch first team, starting at 12.30.
But the highlight of the weekend should be the Sunday game in the Royal London National Cup with Ealing as the visitors, starting at 1pm.
Junior training is as normal on Friday. Bar will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
As ever please check the club website astonrowantcc.com for more details and membership applications.
I am leading a walk for the Chiltern Conservation Board Walking Festival.

Finger’s crossed, and weather permitting, we should have cricket on Saturday at home for the first time this season.
It is a full and interesting weekend.
At Butts Way we have two local derbies as the Second team play Horspath on the top field and the Fourth team welcome Chinnor on the bottom field. The bar will be open from 1pm.
At the same time our first team take the short journey to Henley in what will be one of the most important games of the season.
And on Sunday the second team travel to Tiddington for the Oxfordshire regional National Village Knock Out semi final.
Junior training is as normal on Friday night.
Can we remind all members that membership renewal is now due, please go to the club website for details, astonrowantcc.co.uk
Finally, a date for dairies – Saturday July 8th Rowachella is back. Early bird tickets are available from the club website or the event website rowachella.co.uk
From ARCC:
The rain ruined last Saturday’s league fixtures when all games were cancelled without a ball being bowled. We will try again on Saturday when the first team will be at home to Banbury. The game should start, weather permitting, at 11.30. The bar will be open from 1pm.
On Sunday the club hosts Brondsbury in the first round of the National Club Championship.
We did manage to play a game on Sunday when we beat Oxford and Bletchington by six wickets to progress to the semi final of the Oxfordshire Village Knockout. We will play away at Tiddington on May 21st.
Tonight – Friday – training is cancelled and the bar won’t open – it’s just too wet; the outfield is flooded.

As in previous years Thame and Wheatley Ramblers have organised some walks to introduce people to walking with them. These will take place on Sunday 4th June in Thame.
This year they are offering a short walk, followed by tea and cakes, and a longer one finishing with complimentary home-made soup.
See attached notice, and hope for some good weather on the day!
This weekend sees the start of the cricket league season as well as the next round of the Village Knockout Cup.
ARCC is hosting the first of what will be a monthly event. There will be live music from ‘Dirty Money’ and food by ‘Gyrosworld’. Additionally, there will be a coronation special of lager at £2.50 and gin at £2 a shot. While the weather forecast is not brilliant the events will continue whether or not cricket is played.
Weather permitting there are two games on Saturday and two on Sunday, as well as the normal junior training and bar on Friday night.
On Saturday whilst the first team open the season at High Wycombe, the second team is hosting Bicester and North Oxford on the top field. At the same time the fourth team is hosting Tiddington 3rd team on the bottom field.
On Sunday the club is at home in a quarter final game in the Oxfordshire section of the Village Knockout Cup against Oxford and Bletchingdon Nondescripts. The game starts at 1pm with the bar open from 12.30. Also on the bottom field is a match with Sydenham playing Ewelme.
The Aston Arms is reopening for the Coronation in Aston Rowant Church with soft drinks, beers, cider and wines at affordable prices.
