Unfortunately the walkway at Fiveways has partially collapsed and so is now unsafe; one of the joists that supports the cross planks has rotted away. We have put up notices and fenced off the walkway whilst we look at alternatives to curing the problem. We hope to have a quick solution but cannot promise this.

Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire district councils have put together a new plan of action for the next four years to improve air quality and are asking residents to have their say on the proposals.

The current plans have been in place for eight to nine years and have been reviewed to ensure that the current pollutant levels are taken into account and that the right plans are in place to deal with the current obstacles. This has led to a new Joint Air Quality Action Plan for both districts, and the councils would like to hear what local organisations and residents think of it.

The councils say that over the last five years most places have seen a consistent reduction in one of the main pollutants which is measured, nitrogen dioxide. They say that this improvement can be attributed to a number of factors, including the work of previous air quality action plans, a change in behaviour with more people working from home and the use of cleaner vehicles such as electric vehicles.

Other proposals include promoting walking and cycling, the use of low emission vehicles, and increased use of public transport.

The survey

The councils would like residents’ views on the action plan and have devised a survey to collate opinions. The survey is available here and opened on 15 June and runs until 27 July.

What do you think of your local household waste and street cleaning services?  That’s what South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils want to know as they launch their new waste services survey.

The two councils are asking residents to share their views and experiences of waste services across the districts, including household waste, recycling and food waste collections, bulky waste collections, street cleaning services, customer services and the councils’ waste and recycling information.

The feedback from the survey will help to identify which aspects of these services people are happy with as well as the areas which could be improved.

This waste survey focuses on services provided by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils.  It does not cover any questions relating to Household Waste Recycling Centres as these services are owned and managed separately by Oxfordshire County Council.

Firstly, can we thank everyone who came down to the club last weekend, it was a glorious evening with sun, music and pizza. The fact that all four senior teams won on Saturday only added to the party atmosphere. A good night one to remember.

This weekend, as well as the normal Friday night junior training, we have cricket on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday the first team host a Wokingham team riding high in the league – start time 11.00 – whilst the 3^rd team host Dinton 2^nd team from 1pm. The bar opens from 1pm.

On Sunday Sydenham are playing a game against Bradenham from 1pm.

Looking forward a week, on Sunday 18^th June, we will host Teddington in what is effect the last 32 of the National Club Knockout Cup. It should be a memorable day so join us if you can.
