Street defects such as potholes, faulty street lights, drains, flytipping and more can be reported online to Oxfordshire County Council (and if necessary, forwarded to South Oxfordshire District Council) via https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk.
The service is also available via apps from the Apple or Google store.

1. Meet with household members, other relatives, friends and neighbours to discuss what to do if a COVID-19 outbreak occurs in your community and what the needs of each person will be.
2. If your neighbourhood has a website or social media page, consider joining it to maintain access to neighbours, information, and resources. Alternatively, share phone numbers and email addresses particularly with those who are isolated or vulnerable.
3. Consider establishing a ‘buddy’ system within your community to ensure everyone stays connected to COVID-19 related news, services and can receive support safely, such as essentials deliveries.
4. Plan ways to care for those who might be at greater risk for serious complications.
5. Choose a room in your home that can be used to separate sick household members from those who are healthy.

7. Create a list of local organisations that you and your neighbours can contact in the event that one of you need access to information, healthcare services, support, or resources. Consider including organisations that provide mental health or counselling services, food, and other supplies.
8. Create an emergency contact list of family, friends, neighbours, healthcare providers, teachers, employers, the local public health department, and other community resources.
9. Learn about the emergency operations plan at your child’s school or childcare facility, and your employer’s emergency operations plan.
10. Practice everyday preventive actions including regular hand washing.

Matthew Barber (Deputy Police & Crime Commissioner) has agreed to come for a conversation about the role of the Police & Crime Commissioner, the priorities for the future and the issues or areas of concern for us in South Oxfordshire District Council (Chinnor Ward, which includes Aston Rowant). This has been booked in Kingston Blount Village Hall on Thursday 26th March from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
It will give us an opportunity to get local issues discussed, and we have been asked if we could provide Matt with local concerns or topics before the event to maximise the time available. Concessionary bus pass users in Oxfordshire are being urged by the county council and bus companies to make sure that theirs is up to date and valid.
There are currently 13,000 concessionary passes in the county that have been identified as being lost, stolen, faulty, damaged or otherwise invalid. These passes should not be used but, until now, the technology hasn’t been in place to prevent it.
But from 1 April, passengers will no longer be able to use their pass if it is suspected of being used incorrectly.
Before then, from 17 February, there will be an amnesty period which will allow anyone using an invalid pass to make sure they are up to date or surrender them before the start of April.
During the amnesty period anyone using an invalid pass will be handed information by the bus driver explaining how to make sure that they use the right pass, get theirs updated or surrender it. While the amnesty is underway people with a rejected pass will still be allowed to travel.

The county council also provides a “Tell us once” service which can be helpful for anyone who has a recently deceased relative. The parish council does its best to keep the locality looking clean and tidy. To do this it runs two litter pick weekends. One on 28 and 29 March coming and another late autumn, date to be announced.
Organiser Peter Hetherington would greatly appreciate help from as many people as possible – over 16’s please (for health and safety reasons). As they say, many hands make light work.
Saturday 28 March will cover the A40 and those meeting at the Cherry Tree at 0930 will catch the bus to the top of the hill. The section should be done by noon.
Sunday 29 March covers the A40 and B4009 near the Lambert Arms. Meet by the hotel at 1000 and again, the job should be done by noon.
Hi-vis vests, litter picking sticks, bags and gloves will be provided (but extra gloves would be appreciated).

New festival to celebrate local heritage and landscape this June
• The Chilterns Summer Festival will run from June 13-21 in 2020
• The festival is a new annual event
The Chilterns Summer Festival is an ambitious new event, aiming to engage with families, young people and urban communities across the Chilterns this June. With a schedule of events 9 days long (June 13-21), including workshops, food fairs, themed railway rides, guided walks, and town centre festival events, the festival is breaking new ground. “We wanted to create a festival that ensures people do two things- they have fun and they learn something new about the Chilterns” says Lizzie Buckley, the festival’s organiser and the Community Engagement Officer for the Chalk, Cherries and Chairs Landscape Partnership. The new festival is the biggest community engagement event planned as part of the ambitious five-year National Heritage Lottery funded Chalk, Cherries and Chairs Landscape Partnership scheme, which focuses on transforming people’s connection to the landscape and cultural heritage of the region. Since the Countryside Festival in 2015, there hasn’t been a festival this size to celebrate all that the Chilterns has to offer, and so the Chilterns Summer Festival is hoping to bring together many communities and local businesses together to make this an inclusive event.
The headline event of the festival will be the ‘Discover the Chilterns’ Family Day on the Wycombe Rye, on June 14th, 2020. This event will include:
• Delicious food of course!
• Free kids’ activities
• Arts and crafts stalls
• Guided walks
• Outdoor yoga
• Traditional games
• Face painting
Other events during the 9-day festival will include local brewery tours and tastings, guided walks through Wendover Woods, theatre performances, evening talks and demonstrations, a bodgers’ breakfast in the woods, an adventure supper at a local farm, workshops for local historians and creatives, and various large scale artworks!
The festival team are currently looking for local community groups, businesses, artists and crafts people who want to be involved, and who may want to organise their own themed event as part of the festival. Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice – S14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984
Temporary Road Closure and “No Waiting” restriction at Thame, Chinnor Road B4012,B4445
In the interests of public safety, it will be necessary for Oxfordshire County Council to close the road and impose a ‘No Waiting’ restriction as detailed above to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works.
A temporary Notice is being made to implement the temporary closure and will operate from 10 March 2020.
The anticipated completion date is 11 March 2020. The closure will operate between 09:30 and 15:30 daily.
Please note that Notices for urgent works can last up to 5 consecutive days only.
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor.

Although the popular Annual Duck Races have been cancelled (for safety reasons) please do still venture out to see the fantastic display of snowdrops along the route.
Cream teas in the church will definitely still be available for a warm up afterwards.
Regrettably, the poor weather predicted for the weekend has meant that the Duck Race scheduled for this Sunday has been cancelled.
The cream teas in the church, however, are still being served 1430 to 1630.
