The parish council has today locked the gates to Kingston Blount Village Hall car park as we have been advised of travellers in the area who have already caused significant damage to sites in Thame. They have, only today, been moved on from the cricket club field in Thame.
This means that they are currently on the move, no doubt looking for a new site, and we have taken this action as precaution over the bank holiday weekend.
We are sure that all parishioners will understand, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. It is purely for vehicular access only; everyone is as welcome as ever to make use of the field for exercise and the walking of dogs etc.

From food stores, to pet care and takeaway food, there’s more than you’d think.

Following a post yesterday regarding free prescription delivery from Lloyds Pharmacy, it should be noted that Boots offers the same via boots.com/online/pharmacy as does pharmacy2u.co.uk.
Boot’s webpage details how the process works including delivery times which are quoted as being longer than Lloyds… upto 13 days after an order is placed.
The same applies to pharmacy2u except that it quotes estimated delivery times of seven to 10 days from making a request.
Both offer smartphone apps to manage the process.
Lloyds Pharmacy, via echo.co.uk, offers a free service to initiate, collect, fulfil and deliver an NHS prescription to any address in England (or to a Post Office collection point).
The service – available online or via a smartphone app – can handle prescriptions that are dispensed free of charge or which require payment.

Note: It’s advised that repeat prescriptions may take at least two days before they’re delivered, new prescriptions can take upto 10 days. The delays allow time for requests to be reviewed by a doctor.

Businesses across Oxfordshire that are yet to submit their details for grant support in response to COVID-19 should do so as soon as possible, including those who already receive 100 per cent rate relief.
Cherwell District Council, Oxford City Council, South Oxfordshire District Council, Vale of White Horse District Council and West Oxfordshire District Council are working to ensure that those who are eligible for support receive their money as quickly as possible.
The councils are contacting businesses directly to remind them to submit their requests and are urging all those who haven’t already done so, and who need funding support, to go to their respective council’s website and complete the online form.
The councils have confirmed that businesses which receive 100 per cent rate relief, who therefore do not pay any rates, may still be eligible for this grant and should continue to submit their details if they need financial assistance.
The councils also want to assure all eligible businesses that this grant does not need to be paid back.

Additional information for businesses about the grants
Businesses receiving Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rates Relief who wish to receive grants of £10,000 are required to provide information via the form on their respective council website. Awards will be considered in accordance with government guidelines.
Businesses which are in receipt of the Enhanced Retail Discount for 2020/21 and have a rateable value of up to £15,000 which are not covered by the Small Business Grant Fund will also receive a grant of £10,000, in accordance with Government guidelines. Retail Leisure and Hospitality business properties with a rateable value between £15,001 and £50,999 will receive a grant of £25,000.
Businesses are eligible for a grant on more than one property, providing they meet the criteria. However, they must submit a separate form for each property.
Note: The self-employed in urgent need of financial assistance should apply for Universal Credit and Council Tax Reduction. This will provide support until a grant for the self-employed becomes available in June.

South Oxfordshire District Council has reopened its paid-for garden waste service to new subscribers.
The service has continued throughout the lockdown for existing subscribers and for a short period of time the council and waste contractor, Biffa suspended taking on new subscribers to prioritise the kerbside household collections while members of the waste collection crews were off sick or self-isolating.
Biffa has now built up sufficient resilience in its workforce to enable new customers to join.
The service will also take extra garden waste (equivalent of another brown bin – three bin bags) during the collection week of 18-22 May.
The service costs £49 per year and is an annual subscription paid by direct debit.

SODC has reopened its paid for bulky waste collection service for large household items and is also issuing a warning about fly-tipping while other outlets for domestic waste remain closed.
The bulky waste collection service was temporarily stopped to allow the council’s waste contractor, Biffa, to prioritise the important kerbside household collections while members of their waste collection crews were off sick or self-isolating. Biffa has now built up sufficient resilience in its workforce and can now provide the paid-for service again. The situation is being regularly monitored and residents should be aware that if staffing levels fall the service may need to be suspended again.
With household waste recycling centres still closed, along with charity shops and their donation banks, there are fewer places to dispose of unwanted items that do not fit into kerbside collections.
The council has issued a warning to anybody tempted to fly-tip – this includes leaving rubbish next to litter bins – that they will investigate and prosecute anyone found to be responsible.
If residents decide to pay someone to dispose of their waste they need to check the person they are employing is a registered waste carrier and make sure they are provided with a waste transfer note to state where the rubbish is being taken from and to. Residents can put out extra recycling that can’t fit in the bin if it’s left in a cardboard box or in a clear bag next to the green bin. Food waste is collected every week, again if there is too much for the bin then residents can leave extra in a bag on top of the food waste bin.

In essence, it is a paid-for service costing £40 for up to three items – and £8 per additional item, up to a maximum of six items. Orders must be made online using credit or debit cards for payment.

Aston Rowant Cricket Club needs to carry out some necessary ground work on the cricket pitch. This will involve both pitches being sprayed on today (16th April) from 1500hrs. There will be some notices and rope in place to advise and remind people, but it is requested that no-one walks on the grass between Thursday afternoon and Monday morning. This includes animals.
It is advised that all dogs should be kept on leads whilst walking on the Moors Path past the cricket pitches. Please do share this information with anyone you know who regularly walks that way. The Cricket Club welcomes people to use the area whenever it is possible, but please do respect this notice and ensure you stay off the grounds until the notices are removed.
