Parking on Brook Street/Stert Road junction
The parish council asks residents and visitors to not park on or near the junction of the Stert Road and Brook Street.
A number of parishioners have raised concerns that vehicles parked at this junction significantly reduce visibility for drivers pulling out of (or turning into) Brook Street, creating a safety hazard.
The images below illustrate the problem.
The council reminds road users of the Highway Code.
Rule 242 of the Highway Code says: “You MUST NOT leave your vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road.”
Rule 243 says “DO NOT stop or park … opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space…”
Please don’t risk a traffic offence as the police have been advised of the matter; the local team will be visiting with a view to potentially ticket cars parked dangerously.
