FTTP is coming to the parish!
/in News/by Adam BernsteinNeither I or the parish council can take credit for this – despite the efforts we put in a couple of years ago – but it looks like FTTP from Openreach is close to being provided to homes in the parish.
Take a look here and see what it tells you. I’ve tested a number of addresses in the parish and they’re close to being upgradable.

/in News/by Adam BernsteinOCC energy efficiency grants
/in News/by Adam BernsteinA note from OCC:
“We are dedicated to helping Oxfordshire households on a low income improve the energy efficiency of their homes, lower their bills, and reduce their carbon footprint.
We have been able to secure government-backed Warm Homes Local Grant funding to install energy efficient measures such as insulation, solar panels and heat pumps in residents’ homes.”
There’s more information here on eligibility and how to apply.

/in News/by Adam BernsteinAnother *new* planning application on B4009
/in News/by Adam BernsteinThere’s another application that has just been lodged with SODC. It’s for planning permission in principle for “a phased development of 1 self-build dwelling” at the junction of the B4009 and Aston Rowant Road. The application reference is P25/S1830/PIP.
The council is objecting for a number of reasons including the expansion of the village footprint with scope to – potentially – lead to more building on the same field and also on other neighbouring green fields, likely access via a busy junction adjacent to a chicane, and prior flooding of the land.
The deadline to lodge comment is Monday 28 July.
The site was previously rejected by the Planning Inspectorate in 2019 because of the inappropriateness of the location, lack of sustainability and lack of facilities. Nothing has changed.
Please see the flyer below and object by visiting the application here or by sending an email to citing P25/S1830/PIP.
This is an issue for the parish as a WHOLE – we are all bounded by green space. The council needs your help to protect the parish boundary.
Woodway Farm planning application – extra time
/in News/by Adam BernsteinBecause of a recent systems failure, SODC has agreed to give residents another week – to 11 July – to offer comments on the application for seven houses on farm land on the south side of the B4009. Barring farm buildings, the locale has no residential structures.
The application, P25/S1671/O, is here.
Comments can also be emailed to SODC via quoting P25/S1671/0.
The parish council has voted to object to this application and urges residents to do the same.

/in News/by Adam BernsteinUnitary council drop in – 4 July
/in News/by Adam BernsteinThere are proposals to form new two new unitary councils from the current district councils in the county.
For us, there would be Ridgeway Council formed from South Oxfordshire, Vale of White Horse and West Berkshire councils.
For areas further ‘north’, Oxford & Shires Council would be formed by the amalgamation of Cherwell, West Berkshire and Oxford City councils.
To help explain the proposals, there will be a ‘drop-in’ session at Thame Town Hall on Friday 4 July between 10.30am to 1.30pm.
There’s more information at ridgewaycouncil.org.
